Character Roles

Classic D&D archetype roles for each PC class should be focused under these models.

Battery, Defender, Guard, & Striker

  • Batteries deal damage to multiple enemies and prefer offense over defense.
    Think AoE; Area of Effect
Battery classes include Druids, Wizards and Sorcerers.

  • Defenders are front-line combatants and have high defense (ie PC's who can wear PLATE ARMOR and deal considerable damage).
Defender classes include Fighters and Paladins.

  • Guards have healing and aiding abilities (BUFFS for party/DE-BUFFS for enemies) and also boast high defense value.
Gaurd classes include Bards and Clerics.
(Druids can aid in this role but lack high AC of PLATE ARMOR and don't have the CLERICS Spontaneous Healing ability)

  • Strikers deal massive damage to single enemies at a time and have the highest attack and mobility (hence, least affected by Attacks of Op) of the party but with LOWER AC values.
(STRIKERS live or die upon GUARDS choices)
Striker classes include Barbarians, Rangers, Rogues and Monks.

Do not take these terms literally

They are merely descriptors concerning the dynamics of the PC archetype in relation to the party as a whole.

Yeah, but this only works if you're paying attention.
